About Second Nature Psychology
ABOUT
Kate grew up on a dairy and sheep and beef farm in the Tasman district south of Nelson. She attended The University of Canterbury and completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) before she moved to Palmerston North after the Christchurch earthquakes where she completed a Master of Clinical Psychology at Massey University in 2018.
After three years of employment as a Clinical Psychologist, Kate started her private practice, Second Nature Psychology. She has been self employed in this practice since 2021 and has enjoyed prioritising rural mental health where she works with individuals, couples, and families connected to primary industries.
Kate and her partner have recently purchased their first farm in the Manawatu region, and they actively participate in the rural community. Kate continues to weave her passion for farming and psychology together and she understands the pressures and stressors of working in primary industries. She is down to earth in her approach, open and honest, relatable, and can break psychological concepts down into manageable steps when working with clients experiencing challenges with their mental health.
