About Second Nature Psychology
ABOUT
Kate grew up on a dairy and sheep and beef farm in the Tasman district south of Nelson. She studied Psychology both at Canterbury University and Massey University before graduating as a Clinical Psychologist in 2018. Since then, Kate has worked in community settings until she started her own private practice in 2021. Since then, Kate has focused on specialising in rural mental health with the goal of making psychology more accessible to rural communities connected to primary industries.
Early in 2026, Kate, her partner and their young daughter recently purchased their first farm in Kimbolton. They run a full and busy lifestyle, and Kate continues to weave her passion for farming and psychology together as she understands the pressures and stressors of farming. She is down to earth in her approach, open and honest, relatable, and can break psychological concepts down into manageable steps when working with clients.
